Imaginary Magnitudes, 2024

Performance / Duration: 45 minutes

Conditions are set for language to gradually shape a collective imaginary space. Two readers relate a script to four mostly unrehearsed performers, who in turn do their best to embody the text. The presentation is conceived as a gradually unravelling structure, traversing several modes of interpersonal address, relation and performance.

Fragments of a casually encountered scene resurface in a conversation with a dear friend, while it dissolves into stage directions with hints of magic realism. The operative script and its immediate enactment, expose a certain tension between what is intended, what is imagined and what is actually happening. Descriptions become prescriptions and things are literally spoken into existence.

A memory of a swimming pool on the edge of town in Ruse, Bulgaria on September 23, 1986 is a reccurent organising image.
